Kyphoplasty

Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure, used to treat painful spinal compression fractures. These compression fractures can cause the spine to collapse, ultimately leading to a very painful curve in your spine, which can lead to a hunched-over look. Using X-Ry equipment for guidance, a small balloon is inserted into the affected site on the vertebrae through a small incision, inflated to restore the spine to its natural position, and then filled with bone cement to stabilize the fracture site.
